Osteopathic consultation for children

During childhood, the body develops intensively. Growth, physical activity, school demands and emotional tension can all affect the functioning of the musculoskeletal system and the child's overall comfort.

Paediatric osteopathy is a manual therapy method that helps identify tension in the child's body and support the proper functioning of the organism. The therapy is based on gentle manual techniques aimed at improving tissue mobility, reducing tension and supporting the body's natural regulatory mechanisms.

At Równoważni MED an osteopathic consultation always begins with a thorough parental interview and an assessment of the child's body functioning.

If something is worrying you — it is worth talking about it

An early osteopathic consultation often allows for a faster understanding of the child's needs and the selection of appropriate support.

When is it worth consulting an osteopath for a child?

  • presenting complaints

The osteopath assesses, among other things:

  • muscle tension

  • joint mobility

  • posture

  • the child's movement patterns

Manual therapy

Where needed, gentle manual techniques are applied during the appointment, aimed at reducing tension in the tissues and improving body mobility.

Organisational information

Duration of appointment

An osteopathic consultation typically lasts 45–60 minutes. The length of the appointment is always tailored to the child's abilities and needs.

Course of the appointment

The first consultation includes an interview with the parent and child, an assessment of body functioning and — where needed — manual therapy.

Age of patients

Consultations are intended for children and adolescents of preschool age, school age and teenagers. For infants, please book an infant osteopath consultation.

Parent's presence

During the appointment, the parent or caregiver remains present in the consulting room throughout the entire consultation.

How to prepare for the appointment?

It is worth bringing to the consultation:

  • the child's medical documentation
  • results of previous assessments
  • comfortable clothing that allows for a free assessment of the child's posture and movement

An individual approach to each child's needs

At Równoważni MED every child is treated individually. The osteopathic consultation takes into account not only the presenting symptoms, but also the way the whole body functions.

Where needed, the osteopath may also recommend consultation with other specialists, such as:

  • a paediatric physiotherapist
  • a paediatrician
  • a child psychologist
  • a child psychiatrist
  • a child neurologist

This approach ensures the child receives comprehensive and coherent care.

How can paediatric ostheopathy help?

Ostheopathic therapy can support:

  • reduction of muscle tension

  • improved comfort of movement

  • relief from pain and discomfort

  • support for correct posture

  • better regulation of tension throughout the body

In many cases, the consultation also allows parents to recieve guidance on everyday activity and supporting the child's development.
